What is your favourite Apparatus?
Pole Dancing has become such a fun part of my life in so many ways. I have never been a particularly "girly" girl, I never did dance classes, was never flexible and never graceful. But with pole dancing I am finding these things within myself, and loving every minute of it. I love showing off my bruises and marks, and bragging about the new moves I learnt in my last class.
How long have you been Pole Dancing?
My first ever pole class was in June 2016!
Did you ever feel nervous when you first started Pole?
I was petrified starting! I thought I was too short, too fat, unco-ordinated and no where near "girly" enough or "sexy" enough for pole dancing.
How does Pole make you feel?
I'll be honest, during classes there are times that I still feel clunky and un-cordinated but when I nail a new move for the first time, or remember the dance and am able to keep up, then there is no wiping the smile off my face! Outside of class, I am more confident, I feel stronger, and surprisingly more feminine!
Who is the Pole Dancer that inspires you the most?
The teachers at Sky Sirens are my inspiration. They are all not only so talented at what they do but they are so much fun to be around. Miss Sofia, Miss Lola and Miss Katia, as well as all the other beautiful ladies, have been so welcoming towards me and make me feel like I am a part of the Sky Siren family. On their individual apparatuses, they perform with such grace and strength and I love watching them. I could go on so much about these lovely ladies and how much they inspire me to continue pushing myself and my boundaries and finding ways to embody everything I love about them.
What advice would you give someone who wanted to give Pole a try, but was a little nervous?
Just do it! There is not one tiny piece of judgement at Sky Sirens, there is nothing but encouragement. When you finally nail a move, or when you make even a tiny improvement the entire class cheers for you and shares your joy. And if you struggle, they still cheer you on and help you to get there!
Has Pole changed the way you view yourself?
From day one I have loved Sky Sirens, even with all my anxiety and every bone in my body wanting to hide in a corner. But thanks to the wonderful staff and students I haven't given up, and I've pushed myself harder than ever before. The last few months I have seen a change in my confidence that I credit to my pole dancing classes. I feel more feminine, I am stronger and I am even putting more effort into my appearance each day to show off the new confidence I have. I never would have imagined having the confidence to do a lingerie shoot, or a pole dancing shoot but I did and I actually felt beautiful doing it, I felt like a Siren!
