What is your favourite Apparatus?
Pole dancing is definitely one of my favourite art forms because not only is it great for fitness and building core strength, but pole dancing also allows one to build confidence within. The same can be said for Lyra which I also partake in, which brings much satisfaction when seeing the weekly progression from both art forms.
How long have you been Pole Dancing?
I have been pole dancing for two years and I have been doing Lyra for almost 6 months.
Did you ever feel nervous when you first started Pole?
I did initially feel very nervous starting pole because I wasn't the most confident person and had zero strength. But that nervousness was quickly overshadowed by the pure enjoyment and fun of pole dancing.
How does Pole make you feel?
Pole dancing has definitely allowed myself to feel more confident. Pole dancing has made me a happier person, whether it be from finally nailing a move or from the endless amounts of laughter and fun had in the studio.
Who is the Pole Dancer that inspires you the most?
I am so inspired by contortionists Felicity Logan and Liquid Luxe as flexibility is something that I am always in awe of and am constantly trying to progress. I am also inspired by my instructors Katia Schwartz and Lola Grace, their stage presence and strength are beyond amazing.
What advice would you give someone who wanted to give Pole a try, but was a little nervous?
Just go for it! I was so shy and reserved when I first started, and am so thankful that I did start as my confidence continues to grow. Sky Sirens has such a great, supportive environment and I couldn't recommend pole dancing, aerial or burlesque enough to anyone and everyone.
Has Pole changed the way you view yourself?
Pole dancing has definitely changed the way I view myself, as I used to doubt myself a lot (although I still have my moments). However I can now say that though my development in confidence, I no longer doubt myself and believe Pole dancing and Lyra have changed me for the better.
