Rose Royce was a competitive figure skater for ten years and competed in Paris and Italy, which is where she developed a love for all things that sparkle and glitter. She was brought up in a house full of jazz records, and after her figure skating career ended, she found herself in love with music, and studied contemporary music at the Australian Institute of Music as a jazz and blues vocalist. 

At the age of 21, Rose was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.

"During this time, I lost a lot of confidence as my body started going through a lot of changes in terms of extreme weight loss and rapid weight gain. I struggled to come to terms with the fact that I now needed to inject myself with Insulin 4 times a day and I didn't feel passionate about anything in my life anymore. "

Rose found herself looking for something to help her love the person in the mirror and a friend dragged her along to a pole dancing class a few years ago. It was the most life changing experience and she was hooked after the first (admittedly very awkward) body roll. Rose is so grateful for the confidence pole has given her.

"Thanks to my diabetes, my body still continues to go through changes here and there but I have learned to look in the mirror and absolutely adore what stands in front of me."

Rose loves teaching because she loves being able to help other new students who are searching for their own self love, just like she was when she started. She thinks that every class should be a whole lot of fun, and a great escape from the outside world!
